I have completed 8000 kms in my i10 kappa magna. I brought this vehicle in February 2010 from trident bangalore .
MILEAGE
The engine is pre euro 4 i.e. The first version of kappa which had a ARAI mileage of ~ 18.30. Why I am stressing on the mileage is, I feel that the reviews which mention low mileage of i10 are not true.
I have done quite few long trips in this car and the mileage has been very acceptable.
I did a bangalore-mantralaya 900 Km trip and tank full method returned a mileage of 16 with 20% ac usage and full load. 80% of the time we drove at speeds above 100.
Last week I did bangalore-dharmasthala via shiradi ghat (Approx 600 Km)and it returned me 17.5 with 10-20% Ac usage. Considering that 100 kms of the trip was in the worst road conditions possible it’s pretty good mileage.
So overall all my 5-6 long trips have consistently given 16+mileage. Highest I have got till date is 18.5 in bangalore-mysore.
In city I think the mileage is quite low at 13, but very difficult to measure the mileage in bangalore city where bumper to bumper traffic is so common.
Performance
Well the pick up of this car is quiet amazing especially in the second gear. Engine is silent but Beat has a more silent engine. But I felt i10 gives better pickup than beat. The car should have wider and 14 inch tyres. I have reached a top speed on 145 on NH7 and it almost ran out of steam. Overall the car is more than adequate on power and performance.
Service
Ive had 2 services till now the first service was quite pleasant but the second one wasn’t great. The service person was insisting that I get the under body treatment done or I get the engine coating done. He was trying to scare me off mentioning the consequences of not getting these done. Also they were in such a hurry to finish the service.
One more complaint is the engine oil change: Hyundai guys will change the oil every 6 months even if the car has run only few kms. They say that the oil looses its viscosity. That’s ridiculous I feel, not within 5-6 months!
No parts replaces so far. No rattles.
Interiors
Well I think this car has the best interiors of the lot. Lot of people feel that beige makes better interiors but I don’t think so. Spark also has beige interiors but its incomparable to the fit and finish of i10. Interiors lack storage areas otherwise its quite spacious.
I recommend this car for its quality and driving pleasure. Mileage is not alarmingly low as few feel.With the new kappa2 engine which is even more tuned and with other add-ons. I10 is still a very good package...
