Recently I had bought i20 car. I have been frustrated at every time I try to restart the car from dead stop as clutch engagement does not happen in sync with accelerator raising. It requires significant skill unless one keeps raising accelerator very high. I am told by my friends that this is known defect.
Another major event happened was that when I happened to visit another city, car immobilizer got activated due to some reason (with no abnormal operation or no accident) and engine would not start. Local dealer could not fix the car within 2 Hrs as promised in Manufacturers campaign. I had to manage overnight stay at some strangers place. Next day I had to get back to my home on my own. No assistance was provided to me get me home. Now I have to bear even cost of car delivery to home town.
When talked to customer care I was told that all towing or visit charges I have to bear. Co. does not care about what happened to you when car broke down. It takes care of car only and not the customer even though it is under warranty.
I have not faced this problem in US. They say this is the rule in India.
So guys who are returning back from abroad be prepared to get such treatment when car breaks down in middle of the road and family has to plan on their own to abandon their travel plans and make own arrangements to come back home.
