This is my first review in MouthShut and I thought it’s now or never..
I bought my Hyundai i20 Magna in March this year and it has been around 3 months clocking around 2500km, here I am to give you a firsthand experience of driving this awesome machine called i20.
I was very much firm on going for a hatch back but with current Indian market hatch back trend (every tom dick and harry have a hatch back segment), it was very hard for me to decide on “Which One”. I did a test drive of almost all in the segment but then I somehow hit it straight with i20, when I had a test drive from Trident Hyundai, Bangalore. I will not list out here my test drive experience with other hatchback’s here as the review is more on i20.
I have categorized my experience into Best and Better since I don’t want to call anything Bad here ? at least so far with the i20 drive.
Best
1) Design and Build
a. The German design really is amazing. Even though I had a mixed feeling, when I saw this on road for couple of times before I went to the showroom, it blew me off when I really went to check out at the showroom. It has a unique and flashing design which attracted me.
b. Build wise, it has a strong build and car is no less compared to the any sedan’s in the entry level
2) Interiors
a. It has the best interiors in the hatch back ‘A’ segment. The quality of plastic used is of great quality comparing to any other in the same segment. The seat ergonomics are very comfortable and my parents liked it instantly as soon as they sat inside. They had problem with Skoda Fabia. The space inside is mind blowing and I have got the consistent comments from all of whom I have introduced this car to.
b. The dashboard display is unique and useful. It shows the track changes, temperature, trip details and all the music system settings. Music system is embedded and very neatly designed to fit in the dashboard.
3) Boot
a. The 260ltr boot is too good enough to stuff many things and again i20 beats all in its group.
4) Handling
a. Hyundai’s any model has a good handling and butter smooth gears to its advantage. I20 is no exception. It just makes your driving so comfortable that you keep looking forward to take her out, at least that’s what the experience with me ?.
Better
1) Pricy
a. I have the entry model Magna and I just had to drain out all my pockets to go for this. I think Hyundai could have competitively priced and I am sure it would have sold like hot cakes. But anyway I still feel that the quality of this product does demand it to be placed in that category or else you will not have a category Hatchback “A” segment ?
b. The price of i20 is iin comparison with 2 models in the market, Skoda Fabia and Maruti Swift fully loaded.
2) Mileage
a. Mileage is not that good for a car priced at this range and that too with such high mileage cars placed competitively in the group, am sure it becomes very hard for Indian jantha specifically where it is expected the cars should be equivalent in mileage with 2 wheelers (I know I am exaggerating, but the mentality remains almost near). I am getting around 11-12km/liter in city and 14km on highway.
3) AC
a. One thing which I dint like in i20 is a common compliant in most of the forums, AC. The AC is very slow in cooling and during summer season, it just sucks. I am sure for such a price; one will never expect the quality of AC to be that bad. Even with high volume, it takes a good amount of time to cool down.
These are few of my observations on this car. But overall, I am really enjoying my drive on this great car and I have no qualms for buying this car. I20 just rocks
