Harrowing experience with local Hyundai dealership

Hi friends,


I just had a harrowing experience with a Delhi Hyundai dealership service center called ’’Rama Motors’’ at Vasant Kunj. My Santro zip drive (bought in Aug 2002 from ’’Rama Motors’’, New Delhi) drove about 18000 kms so far and got a bad muffler (it rusted and degenerated). I took it to the above mentioned service, they recommended replacement at a cost of Rs. 5000 plus.


I was aghast to learn that the parts of Hyundai could be so inferior yet so expensive, and also that they can rust and degenerate even in dry conditions. I drove cars in the US in extreme snow conditions but never got a rusted muffler in seven years. I tried to reason with them and threatened to pursue the matter formally and even legally.


I also told them of my suspicion that since I always took my car to them for service, they might have replaced the original with an older muffler earlier. Finally, they agreed to repair it on what they termed ’goodwill warranty’ basis and said they will give a year’s warranty on it. However, when I went to receive the car, they did not give any written warranty and suggested that the muffler may go bad again in a couple of months.


I am wondering if there was a place where one could get reviews on dealers as well, coz generally it may be an erring dealer who destroys the reputation of a manufacturer.
