Hi All,
It has been five months of our association, (mine is Santro Xing XO) and it
has been a real smooth and heartening experience, devoid of any big hassle.
This is my first car. Initially I was planning to get a bike for office commuting
purposes but due to my lower back problem, I got Slip-Disk in August last
year, eventually I had to upgrade my plans to go for a four-wheeler.
I have never been fond of Brand Hyundai prior to the advent of Xing model.
Nevertheless, I have checked different profiles in the entry level / hatch back
segment of four wheelers, and Santro Xing was the final choice for obvious
reasons. Initially I went for XP model, but due to heavy rush at the time of last
Navratra, I was unable to get my car. Finally on 19th of October 05, I got my
car and this delay resulted in the upgrade in the model. Though this upgrade
had added a very little on the downpayment amount and EMIs, the features
which I got in XO were every bit worth of it.
Being a six-footer, I find this cars sitting position very upright and comfortable.
I use my car for regular office commuting and not so often long weekend trips.
Usually I travel 1000-1500 KMs in a month.
I got the car serviced within first three weeks as it qualified for the same,
in terms of distance covered.
Apart from that I never faced any problem. Mileage is 15 (best) and
13.5 (worst), thanks to the heavy traffic in the peak hours, on
Gurgaon to Delhi stretch. Usually the final figure I get is 500 plus KMs
for a tank full, (oftentimes I use to get 31-32 liters) of petrol.
The cars performance is similar with or without the AC switched on. And
to add to her real capability, I would like to share one personal experience.
I was a bit apprehensive, when I went to receive my parents and sisters at
New Delhi Railway station. They came to visit me for a family get-together.
Initially I thought of hiring a taxi fearing that she will not be able to
accomodate us. Together, we were 6 adults and one kid (daughter of my elder sister) plus the luggage.
Finally, we tried to give it a try, and surprisingly we were able to squeeze
inside the car along with all the luggage, obviously with a little discomfort.
Here I felt that the rear speaker holders are eating up a reasonable boot
space. They need to work on that.
Afterwards the trip to my place commenced. It is about 40KMs from
New Delhi Railway Station. And this was the real test for my new car
with maximum payload and my freshly acquired driving skills as well.
She cleared the distance with utmost ease, as I would have driving
her alone. Though her chassis protection guard bumped with the speed
breakers a couple of times, blame it to my new driving skills not the new car!
In the 5 months of our association my Cutie has never troubled me.
She never asks for anything else rather than;
1) 2-3 monthly visits to petrol pump.
2) Weekly tyre pressure checkups
3) Scheduled servicing.
4) Regular topping up of wind-shield washer tank (most likely every week),
5) Prompt handling of punctured tyres.
Cuties second servicing schedule is due in April and I dont think
I need to rush to the dealer before that.
Finally I would like to mention what I usually miss in this car:
I have noticed this so many times. Usually after hitting the road with my cutie, I often feel that she needs an extra speed gear!! So many
times I, instinctively tried to shift her in top gear, while she already being
in top and doing anything between 80-100 KMPH. But considering the segment
of four-wheelers she represents and city traffic conditions, all I could say is that, she always fares well.
:-)
Enjoy
