I explored several cars in the range, did trials, checked reviewed etc and then brought Verna petrol model in April 2013. Little did I know that the never ending problems will start almost immediately. The clutch seemed relatively hard. I didnt bother about it much until the hardness increased to an extent when my leg started to give away to the stress. My complaint was ignored in the first servicing. After escalation, the service center looked into the issue and found manufacturing defect in the clutch. they kindly replaced few parts under warranty. The clutch was smooth and soft like never before but only for 15 odd days. Another escalation and change in hydraulic fluid gave relief, Again for 10 days.
A third escalation to Hyundai area manager, brought him to the service center, this time they replaced the clutch release bearing, clutch cover assembly and disc assembly. but to everyones surprise, the hardness returned in just 4 days with problems in shifting gear. the area manager is now sending a technician tosee my car.
Though the service center and area manager have been cooperative and covering everything under warranty, what I wanted to convey is - think twice before buying a verna(petrol or diesel). other than this unfortunate play of fate with me, here is a list of few more generic problems which you will see in many review sites: unpredictable braking(car doesnt slow down or stop as you would expect it to), poor head lamps(even a 10 year old bike and overpower it), unreliable quality, loose steering(it provides good turning radius but has its own mind).
DONT just see the long list of accessories and looks like I did. A very simple decision making exercise for a new car is just blindly go for HONDA CITY!
