After having a smashing year in 2014, Hyundai is aiming for an encore this year – starting off with the mid-life refresh of its mid-sized sedan – Verna.
Now called the 4S Fuildic Verna, it comes with in a total of ten variants, comprising of four engine options. In petrol, theres first a 1.4-litre engine that puts out 105bhp and 135Nm of torque, married to a 5-speed manual. Then theres the 1.6-litre option that makes 121bhp and 154.9Nm, which comes with the option of a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed auto box. In diesel, the Verna, again offers a 1.4-litre option for the base variant that produces 89bhp and 219.6Nm of spin, with a 6-speed manual box. Finally, the 1.6-litre diesel puts out 126bhp and 259.8Nm, with either a 6-speed manual or 4-speed auto gearbox.

In case youre wondering why its called the4S Verna, the 4S stands for style, safety, speed and sophistication. Style, because the 4S Verna comes with an updated look, comprising of a newwing-shaped grille, projector headlamps(without daytime running lamps), and boomerang-shaped fog lamps. On the rear, it gets elongated wraparound tail lamps, concealed exhaust, and a two-tone bumper. Inside, the rear arm-rest now comes with cup-holders - a feature missing in the previous generation Verna.
On the safety front, the 4S Verna offers six airbags, including side and curtain bags. Hyudai claims that the new Verna has been put through stringent testing through extreme climatic conditions, and the car has scored a five-star rating from N-CAP worldwide.
