THE HOLIDAY..THE HYPE?
Will smith movies are always something extra then your normal movies, he does choose his movies with alot of care and he spends alot of time on the movies he makes. Most of them end up being big hollywood hits like "Hitch" and "The Pursuit of Happiness". Now comes a movie that is much hyped by its promos and a major xmas release, all critics and audience are ready and keen to know what exactly is "I Am Legend" about? Is it something worth watching? or isit another one of the over hyped films that will just sizzle out within days to come?
When I first saw the promos of this movie I was blown away and I thought its a must see movie, and everything I expected this movie to be it was just as good. You normally do get disappointed with powerful promos and the film being just as bad as the promos. But trust me the promos showed very little to what actully the movie is about. Alot of suprises and alot of scary and tense moments and a very spooky feeling movie makes "I Am Legend" a good entertainer..

Have a rollarcoaster ride, that will make you jump and feel very affraid of the dark..
Just got home from watching the much hyped xmas release "i am legend" and I will smith does it again. The cinema was packed was very hard to get tickets the 9.10pm show was not available as it was sold out, normally my vue cinema never gets sold out as its so huge I was shocked to see this movie sold out so had to settle for the late show at 11.50pm show. Well the movie is all you expect it to be and that is a fun filled ride, that will make you jump and entertain you! He is the only man left on earth. Living in New York city he services each day as it comes with his dog. He broadcoast on the radio if there is any survivors out there then he can help them. This film gives you a dose of the world being empty and you being the only survivor left. yes it might be cool at first but then you get frustrated! You feel alone and you have this erge to just want to speak to someone..Just anybody. You feel afraid no matter who you are.
Apart from being alone in the city, there is another thing you should be afraid of, That is to never go out at the night time, there is something that comes out at night which will terrify you like anything! Basically you can only go out in the daylight as these "Things" are afraid of the sunlight..Yes they are zombies. What works with I am legend is the powerhouse performance of Will smith, he is just amazing. His face expressions are top notch, the pain in his eyes of being alone for such along time shows. Especially the scene where he gets angry on the wooden model for not being real. Also a tense moment where he goes into his video rental store when no one is there and he is crying his eyes out for a wooden women Statue doll to talk to him "Please say hello to me!" as he cries out. You relise how alone he is not talking to anybody in 1000 days. He is also a scientist trying to find a cure for the infected(as he works in his basement)
The effects of the zombies are amazing, they are really scary and I heard a few people in the cinema scream a little bit when they appeared. You see them quite a few times in the movie and each time you see them you do feel like jumping. Also the new york city being empty is really good, great work they did there. The film actully feels like the whole of the city is empty. Great shots of time square being deserted and the roads growing grass on them as road workers have no time to cut the grass (as they are all dead). So it does feel very real and it does make you go into the movie and it makes you feel you are inside new york city all alone.
People that have never played resident evil (Not the movie) the game will know how similar the story is to the game. Play resident evil 2 (one of my favourite games) and its almost similar story line. Except these zombies can’t go out in the day light.
Yes it does sound like 28 days later, but a more action packed version and more jumping of your seat, a film to be seen on the big screens that will make you jump and have you on the edge of your seats. But also the film does lack a few unawsnsered questions and the ending is finished off which makes you wanting more so it does feel rushed. Many did question when the film was over "Is that it?...What next?" Overal I did enjoy it so go check it out.
