Animation houses are having a battle out there. The major contenders i.e PIXAR, Disney, Dreamworks are making blockbuster films. Dreamworks has already worked to a sequel success with ’Shrek’. Now, they hava also tried the sequel with ’Ice Age’. Has it worked yet again?. Of Course!
Ice Age 2 - The Meltdown is a fun filled movie to watch. This time around , there has been more attention to Cratch ( the squirrel chasing an acorn). It has added more humour to the movie. The main characters, Manny, Sid and Diego are off on another mission. The mission the escape the melting of the Ice. A vulture guides the whole animal kingdom to a ’boat’ through which they can escape. So, all the animals start moving towards the boat. Now, the trio go along. But this time, they are joined by 3 others. Ally and the rat-like twins. Ally is a female mammoth who pretends to be like the rat twins. Manny, in an effort to save his species from extinction, proposes to Ally. She rejects it initially.
The story moves on, the 6 animals stay close to each other and move. They escape the cracking ice, sea-monsters, and so on. Finally, after much struggle, they reach the boat. This is done with the help of Cratch.
The movie has been made very well. The sounds and the views are excellent and this makes the movie a worthy watch, even for the elders. To add the final touch of humour to the movie, Cratch is shown in heaven. Here, he sees millions of acorns. But, above all of them, he sees a Giant Golden Acorn. Will he get to the Golden Acorn? With Shrek 3 to come next year, Ice Age 2, has been yet another success story for the Dreamworks Animation house.
