I have been operating a couple of ICICI bank accounts. One dates back to 2001 where I started a so called 3 in 1 account for demat, trading and bank account. At the time of opening the account, all documents have been submitted and there are acknowledgements from the bank regarding the same.
Now, in between, think sometime in 2005, they suddenly call up and ask us to re-submit the documents. Reason - the flood had damaged the documents. Well, its none of the customers fault but since it was the first time, I went ahead and re-submitted the documents.
Now they again call up today and tell me about dire consequences if I do not submit my documents by 20th of this month again. When I asked the reason to what had happened to the documents, these guys promptly said that they lost it while on transit when they were relocating. And the timeline given is just one week.’
My questions are, is this bank serious in doing business? I have several other bank accounts where this kind of incident has not even happened once. How can this bank be so casual in retaining documents and what right do they have to call up and tell that the documents needs re-submission? My personal feeling is that, one has to stay away from this bank, else, will fall in trouble soon.
