Lady Employees know their stuff, but the Men don't

Unfortunately I have noticed that most of the Male Employees in ICICI Bank are real duds. They do not have any idea how to do anything, or how to solve your problem, and it is a waste of time talking to them. I am not being Gender biased as I am a man myself.


Anyways you asked for it, so here is my experience. You decide. My father passes away, and has 2 accounts in ICICI bank at Ballygunge branch and Behala branch. I go to make a death claim at Ballygunge branch.


I get designated to a male Branch Officer. I give him my father’s last Account statement and explain that I have come to make a death claim. He starts gaping at the statement. After 30 minutes of gaping at the statement and my persuading him to hurry up, he starts giving me excuses that it will not be possible to perform a death claim as some formalities have been missed out by my father.


After another half an hour of arguing with him, I decide it is better to leave and come another day and try to catch another Branch Officer, rather than make him try to see reason.


The next week I come back, and get designated to a Female officer at the branch. She completes my application for Death Claim in 5 mintues and the amount is automatically transferred to my account within 3 days.


NOW BEHALA BRANCH


I go to close my father’s account. I approach the Branch Manager  who asks me to speak to the Branch Operations Manager.


The Branch Operations Manager tells me to sit down and wait as he is chatting with another customer. He is explaining to the customer how to make a good pot of tea. He is saying, " chai paanch minute pore daalte hobe, naa to teetha hoi jabe". He then proceeds to explain to his colleague how to make a paan and where to get the best betel leaves.


He then turns to me, and takes my fathers’ account statement from me and goes "What is this, OH my goodness, come back afterwards, we are doing work now".


He then starts explaining to me different ICICI Prudential insurance ULIP products, and says as and when you get the money from your father’s account, invest it in this Insurance Product because "NOW IS THE BEST TIME TO INVEST", a line you will hear from every ICICI Bank employee 365 days a year, 100 years a century.


He also says to only take the Insurance products via him and nobody else in the branch.


Obviously this man is greedy for Commission and his Targets. By now he has completely forgotten the reason for my coming to the bank that day.


This is the Branch Operations Manager.


When I explained to him that the branch manager had asked me to speak to him regarding the death claim, he says "OOFFO Go over there to this lady employee and ask her to do it.


When I approach the lady employee, she takes the account statement from me gives me the requisite forms to fill, and says she will be in touch with me regarding the death claim process.


So anyways that was my experience.


Another thing is that I am a regular at the Behala Branch and I have seen all the work is usually allocated to 2 lady employees (including the one I was directed to) who are good and fast at their work and talk less BS.


The others, mostly male employees just hang around whole day, or are greasing the Managers.


Over the past one year, whenever I go to the branch with a query or a problem and am allocated to a male branch official, they have no idea about how to solve the problem, and then they start guessing.


They start telling me, "MAYBE YOU CAN DO THIS, OR MAYBE YOU CAN TRY THIS....."


After half an hour of GUESSWORK they usually ask me to approach one of the 2 lady employees as usual, who solve my problem or answer my query in 2 or 3 minutes.


So that has been my real life experience.
