ICICI bank has to be one of the most best banks in India. I have over 3 years of experience with this bank and they have shows how India can improve in bank timings and taking care of customers. When I moved to India after living in Saudi Arabia and America, I thought that I would have tos deal with the sick indian bank timings and the useless holidays they have for no apparent reason.
But after I joined GE and they had me open an account with ICICI was when I realized that the banking sector had improved drastically in India. I started off with a salaried account and now I have 2 more accounts in the bank thanks to their service. They get top marks from my side comparing to other private and nationalised banks.
I live in Hyderabad, and they have ATMs at every major and minor part of the city. Run out of cash? Dont worry, an ICICI ATM is never far from you. Their internet service is the best as well. Their internet site is well laid out where you can be guided at your will.
The best of all that I like about the bank is their timings, 8AM - 8PM. Now that is something the nationalised banks should look at too. But then again, who would trust those money thirsty blood gunching janitors and bank clerks who think theyre the best cause they deal with money.
The problem with national or local banks out here is that the men and women working here are very arrogant and no one listens to you unless you say sir or madam. I never would like to be addressed by sir nor would be comfortable saying it to others. Now I have accounts in GTB and Citibank also, thanks to my new job. GTB is a good small bank, with not a lot of ATMs and also a decent internet website, but not much of options with transacting on the net.
Then its Citibank. I hate to say this, but this bank is not meant for the local economy. Many international businesses use this bank cause its recognized outside, but the bank should also make some considerations if they wanna survive. A 100 rupee transaction fee of any kind over the counter is just BS!!! so if I go to the bank and give a chek for a 1000 bucks 100 are deducted automatically. I guess this is how the bank makes money and pays its employees.
Also, the ATMs are at a worst scenario here. One say every 5 Kmts for a city thats hardly 30Kmts wide. I still use this bank cause the company I work for has made us make accounts for salary here. So far Ive been to the ATM only once and withdrew all the money at one go and deposited in ICICI, which I found more feasible.
Bottom line, ICICI is the best bank so far (although I did have some minor complaints about ATM Card service and all) but the good things out weigh the bad ones by a good margin and I would prefer ICICI any day. Thank you ICICI for trusting us and giving us banking a pleasurable means of living.
