ICICI Bank - An Experience

I have been using the ICICI bank account for over 5 years and must say, can be tagged pretty much a "happy customer"

Some of the features that attracted me and convinced me to be with the bank for so long are listed

1. You would hardly find a person in India who would say that they havent seen an ICICI ATM. They have a well spread network of ATM’s across and you are sure to find one in your neighbourhood.

2. The Netbanking facilities that they offer is stupendous. Apart from the regular feature like keeping track of you bank account, fund transfer; etc. it offers direct recharge for prepaid mobiles from the comfort of your home, get alerted of all transactions on your account by SMS. And all this for NO COST.

3. Most of us shop online, may be not for goods but atleast for tickets. ICICI bank direct debit facility which is acceptable on most of the gateways charges only Rs 10 per transaction while using a credit card (ICICI bank Credit Card Included) can set u back by a minimum of 1.8% of your purchase value. Direct debit facilities are being offered by other banks as well.

4. Pay you utility bills; Electricity, Gas, Telephone. Mobile etc from the comfort of your home with no extra cost. It also offer for certain billers presentment of the bills in your Netbanking account, which means, a copy of the bill is available for you to verify and pay off on time and is there up in your account the moment it is generated and much before the hard copy knocks at your door.

These were the benefits and the facts that I liked. But any service over the period will sometime make you unhappy as well. One such instance was when my Debit card expired and I never received the renewal card.

SInce I hardy use debit card I actually didnt bother to foilow-up(rather must say didnt even know that it expired). After a few months when I had to do an online transaction, I realised that the debit card had a number matrix which is used for verification of online transactions. It didnt work for the obvious reason that the card had expired. I then approached the bank with the question "**Why was I not sent the renewal card?**" but was surprised to get a response "**Sir we had sent the card by courier but was returned as you were not at the address**".  MInd you these are the people who call you up 24 hrs if they have to sell a product and never had the courtesy to call up and find out or rather instruct the customer of the return of card. I eventually had to shell out cash to get my new card.  And yes they have** SOME VERY RUDE CUSTOMER SERVICE PERSONNELS AS WELL.**

Barring one such incident, which could have been avoided if I had been alert and knew when my card expired, I must say all in all a satisfying experience.
