Having got cheated by these guys, I wanted you guys to know some harsh
facts about the ’’5% cashback on everything’’ offer by ICICI Bank.
1. When they say that you need to have the charge slip of ICICI, they mean
that the card swiping machine should be provided by ICICI Bank! So, they
suggest that whenever you want to use the card, you explicitly ask the
merchant (could be a waiter, clerk, etc) that ICICI has provided the
machine and the gateway used for the payment is of ICICI Bank. Of course,
since they have mentioned that the charge slip is to be kept in the fine
print we could give them the benefit of doubt. Much better deal than the
online
2. When you are doing an online transaction you’d need to find out the
payment gateway being used! Of course, our dear friends at ICICI cannot
accept anything other than the ICI! CI one for the cashback! Now, of course
the fact that no one mentions the bank gateway on their website or it’s
highly unlikely that their call center agent would know the gateway being
used for online payments is something the customer has to figure out! The
(kind) lady at the call center enlightened me that in the future if there
is a choice of gateway on the website, you should choose ICICI one!
So much so for the ’’5% cashback on everything’’ offer from ICICI. I got a
raw deal but learnt my lessons well. So, if you planning on a 5% cash back,
you might want to keep these in mind.
