My complain about icici might be a repeated one and some one might have the same experience like me but I thought to put my experience here..
My complain is about icici credit card which I never had , I never owned , never applied.. Friend I am overseas settled since 2004 and occassionaly I check my icici account on line.
On jan 19 2009 I was surprized to see that icici has deducted around 90K from my account .. and when I checked with there help desk by making one hour of international call I came to know that this amount has been debitted against a credit card .. they told this credit card was issued to me .. sent to X address, Y company and payment was over due..
That was a surprized sock to me as I never applied for any credit card neither from icici nor from any bank in India..as I am living abroad since 2004 and above all I never lived in that X address or worked in Y company. Itold the same to help desk and asked them how can u debit the money without my authorization when I donot own this card.
The standard reply.. we cannot do any thing .. talk to credit card division...credit card division has right to debit the money if payement is over due..Ikeep on telling them that I donot own the card .. I am overseas since years but no avail..I asked them credit card statement, proof that card was delivered to right person, ( may be I have a twin whom I lost in Kumbh mela), but so far none such evidence has arrived to my mail box..
They say that my personal details are matching and thus they have right..Frinds.. that is the worrysome point.. Your all details are with icici.. if they can link your details to some fraud account ( credit card , personla loan, insurance) then how can u defend ? It was 2 months ordeal.. and finally on march 6 they creditted back my money.. and no interest was paid..A flat refusal that we cannot give any interest..
(but had it been a true credit card I believ the have all the right to charge any penanlty..??)
But I am still inquring that on what ground they debitted the money. Because still icici is not gave any indication that any such credit card is still on my name or not .. This thing coul happen again to me tomorrow .. And here is biggest revealation.. my friend in delhi was able to trace the person who was using the card.. ( we have not told this to icici yet as my money is returned and I am waiting from some more info from icici on this)
He himself was not aware that such thing has happened .. his details have been altered to my name .. his payment has been taken from my account.. ( believe me this person was genuine person and not aware of the fraud, he has the same name like me but family name , DOB were different).That clearly says that icici people are responsibe to play with the personal records of genuine customer to settle their losses happening in other divisions.. This is very serious and I am intend to bring this icici fraud to every one notice. I have already spoken to indian embassy here and they will extend their help..
i am planning to write banking ombudsman, and will go to consumer court as well..

please do get in writing from icici that no auto debit without your authorization..
avoid theri credit card, loan..
keep your personal details updated and check your self the updation.. ( my account is with icicci since 2000 I came to knowe that my DOB is not there)
avoid any auto debit with any account you have..
i am serious to nail down this icici this time ..
