I have had an ICICI Credit card for the last 3-4 years. Have always had a tough time with them - they do not regularly send statements, customer service is lousy and non existent and the phone banking is as un-userfriendly as can be.
However my recent experience with them has completely put me off and I intend never to use any ICICI product ever.
Even though I had not received my statement - I paid my cheque on time. After a week I got repeated calls asking for payments. Everytime I explained that I had dropped of the cheque at the specified drop box prior to the due date. 3 weeks after several calls from ICICI despite the explanations, I called customer service to resolve this issue. They then mentioned that the cheque that I had issued had an error and hence could not be cashed.
This was never intimated on any previous call. To make matters worse they charged me a late fee as well as a finance fee which they refused to waive even though for the last 3-4 years I have always paid my card in full! I asked them for the copy of the cheque as I would like to confirm the error myself and if there was no error on my part I wanted all the fees reversed. They promised to send me the cheque in 20 days- this was one month ago and I am yet waiting for the cheque. In the meantime I have paid the fees as the customer service reps said that the fees would keep adding if I waited for the cheque confirmation!!
Also, during the course of my call, the Customer service reps have implied that I lied and were outright rude. There was no sembalance of customer service. A very disgusting experience all in all...and this is one customer they have surely lost.
