I bought a car insurance on Nov 4 2010 and ICICI Lombard even gave a note saying that it was effective Nov 4 2010 and that a surveyor would come by to inspect my vehicle. No surveyor turned up or even called to fix a time for the inspection for over a week.
On Nov 15, I called their customer support and was shocked to be informed that my coverage was subject to the inspection being done by ICICI. Only on explicitly wording my question did I get a response from the customer rep that I had been driving my vehicle without cover since time I paid the premium!
I demanded a refund and was told it would be processed(and reflected) within 48 hours. After 2 days, I received a letter from ICICI Lombard mentioning details of my policy, the refund and other particulars except that my name has been changed(Im not talking about a typo - Its a really different name!).
A call to customer service lasted 20 min and I was told the supervisor would call me back. Havent heard from them yet!
A piece of advice - save yourself the money and stress and avoid ICICI Lombard!
