Pathetic Service for ICICI Pru iProtect

I now realize I should have been more of a sadist and waited a couple of months for reviews on Mouthshut before applying for this product. Nevertheless, I applied for this product, burnt my fingers and as a good Samaritan, posting a review. I was taken in ICICI Pru’s positioning of placing this product for working professionals who are comfortable with the internet and do not want the haggle of visiting offices, etc for a policy issuance.


I applied for this product on the 19th of November, before applying the sales representatives are very courteous and pick up your calls immediately, travel to your home and do the paperwork(rather online work). NOTE: The online application too is a hazard as it works only on IE 6.0 and there were many instances wherein I had to educate the sales rep on the application process. I applied and then.like the other review, waited and waited. In the meantime the hospital folks came over for the medical test(this was within 5 days of application, completed the tests).


After multiple calls and repeated assurances from the sales rep that the process is over and the delay is due to internal delays; I finally decided to email the firm(on the feedback) along with a snapshot of my application tracker(available through the website). The application tracker stated that the policy is waiting for issuance. After the mail, I received a call from their helpdesk who took down a complaint and again assured that all information/ papers required from my end was complete and within 3 working days, policy would be issued.


After two weeks and no policy or intimation, I checked the website again today only to find that my application has been canceled. The reason now mentioned’Insufficient documents’. I have now written to their Grievance Redressal office, but certainly don’t have any hope left.


One has to admire the firm for the innovative product, but a firm of ICICI Pru’s stature should first be tackling its internal inefficiencies before claiming to make life easier for the customer. After 2 and half months, I am still left without a policy! From a firm that claims to make it simple and fast!
