I was contacted by tele-marketing associate of Idea, M/s Revolution. I acceded to their solicitation and applied for a post paid IDEA connection. Filled up subscription form and required documents were handed over to them on 15 & 16 October 2008. The upfront payment of Rs. 299/- was made through cheque. The cheque got cleared. They communicated my Idea no. as 97020 75375. But till today I have not received the SIM card. I made several (at least 7 times) contacts with them but each time I am told to call back after 10 minutes to half an hour.
Meanwhile I got calls from Idea that to remind me of paying monthly bills.
After many attempts, I was told to go to Idea gallery. I did. At gallery, they told me that the said number was allotted to somebody else. They were ready to give me new SIM with different number. About the refund of upfront charges that was collected from me, they told me that it will come automatically within few months time. That time has not yet come. The matter was raised to Grievances officer through e-mail. The mail was never replied.
With a hope of getting back my earlier paid Rs.299, I took one new post -paid connection. It is still working. Later I was offered one more(add-on) SIM free-of-cost. But it is also post-paid one. Later I found that it is of not much use since Idea’s coverage is poor in my office area.
I tried to surrender the SIM twice at the Idea gallery. But every time I approach them for the same their system becomes too sluggish to entertain my cancellation request. They are taking Rs.99 from me since many months.
