MNP Experience with !dea Cellular

The problem:

I wanted to port out from Airtel and port in to!dea Cellular. I obtained Unique Porting Code on 27th December 2011 and it had 15 days validity till 11th Jan 2012. All the 15 days passed by, porting didn’t happen, wasn’t even canceled or rejected. They should at least let me know about what happened to my application! NOTHING. TOTAL SILENCE FROM!DEA.

How I went for it:

From 10th day onward, I began by submitting complaint at Govt. of India Grievance Cell on 6th Jan 2012. Action was taken upon that complaint on 11th Jan 2012 and its still "under process". But meanwhile, DoT officer called me, !dea Cellular Kolkata chief called me and both tried to know what happened.

Lastly what happened?

After UPC expiry on 11th Jan, I requested new UPC on 12th Jan(its validity ending 27th Jan);!dea officer requested me to give him another chance and he’ll do it in 5 days. So I gave him new UPC on 13th Jan. Today, 18th Jan, I received an SMS that "tentative" date/time of porting is "expected to be" 18-1-2012 at 2200 hrs.

But I must mention:

(1) On 11th Jan when the first UPC was going to expire, the!dea officer who called me asked me for the MNP Pack’s SIM Card Number(the long sequence of digits printed on the back of the pack). IT MEANS, the first MNP application failed because!dea lost that SIM Number, i.e., they misplaced it and they didn’t know on which SIM to put my mobile number after porting.

(2) MNP Charges Rs. 19 was charged by!dea as Rs. 56 and I wasn’t told what that extra Rs. 37 was for!
