The IFB Elena I bought is very poor in quality. It came with an offer of several free gifts(of which we were not given all that was promised).
The machine takes very few clothes and the cycle is very long(1.5 hours). Earlier I have used a fully automatic washing machine by daewoo, and it worked like a dream. We signed the AMC which I feel was useless. It is just a device to extract money.
Within a few months the drum would not move properly. I tried using lighter loads but even with one bedsheet the machine would make a clicking sound and the drum would fail to turn. Sometimes the clothes would come out dripping with water. There is no net in the filter, so the small fibres and lint which should be filtered out are all sticking to the clothes after the wash.
I contacted the company service cell with great difficulty. For one thing, the service seems to have been outsourced. The technicians dont seem to know anything and dont want to spend time checking the machine as the cycle time is long or they are too busy.(Anyway the fact that they have their hands full is testimony to th fact how the machine works!).
The technicians came could not detect any problem and left.
Earlier IFB was associated with Bosch and that is why I bought the machine. But the quality has been compromised in the newer machines like IFB Elena. I feel I have been cheated and would like togo to consumer court and ask them to take back the machine and return my money.
My old manual washing machine, a manual one by Pearl, which I bought 20 years ago has never given me a days problem. I am glad I did not dispose of it. I am using it now while the IFB Elena gathers dust .
