I purchased an IFB digital washing machine 7 kg from Tanmaiyee a dealer in Hyderabad. Unfortunately IFB have not informed their dealers that 35 feet water head height is required for the machine to work. Because of this we carried the machine to our place at a cost of Rs 700 but when we wanted to install the same we could not. The man meant to install the same said that it cannot be done. When we informed the dealer he was surprised and he called IFB in my presence and was surprised to learn that the model will not work in a single floor house or in a petnhouse.
On the advice of the person who was to install the machine we changed the model to the smaller 6 kg digital machine. The cost for transportation of Rs 500 was borne by me. I was disappointed that though the error was the dealers and IFB’s we had to pay the costs.
The operation of the machine is extremely confusing and difficult. The settings are too many and though it is supposed ot be a digital automatic the number of settings are much more than my earlier videocon machine.
The first time we tried to run it the door open button broke. We called the person who installed it and asked him to attend to the same. He refused saying that we have to inform IFB and he gave us the number to call. Unfortunately the number is either engaged or we get no reply to our call. I think it shows engaged as others are also trying to contact them.
Overall I find IFB is poor in training their dealers. The quality of the machine is poor. The after slaes service is less than desired. I would have expected for a good company for the person who installed th emachine to have informed IFB and got the repairs cooridnated.
I am now in the process of asking the dealer to change it to Vidoecon or some brand which will work.
