We purchased this washing machine July 2007. The Spin dry was not effective since day one, clothes would remain dripping wet after the spin dry. Water would remain in the tub after the cycle The support person said that this is okay and suggested that we run a second spin dry cycle. We continued using the washing machine till November 2008 when there was leakage from the tub and the whole house was flooded with soap water. The support person came and saw the problem and said that he would come again.
After around 4 visits they said that the washing machine has to be dismantled and reassembled. Two people came and did this and the machine seemed to be okay. In the next wash the same problem appeared. I called support again, this time they said that the machine is under warranty and they would replace it. The person said that he would contact IFB and get the machine replaced.
This was sometime in Mid December. After that no calls from IFB. We continued using the leaking washing machine with difficulty. Finally it broke down totally yesterday. I called today and they said that someone will come and take a look at it tomorrow.
The support person is not even from IFB. In bangalore they have given the support to some third party company (Vijaylakshmi Industries). They didn’t get to the real issue at all, they just work on trial and error basis and they are not at all professional.
From the looks of the problems it looks like IFB sellls refurbished stuff into the market. When the washing machine was opened I didnt feel that the parts in the washing machine were 1.5 years old.
I would not recommend IFB to anyone. I dont see any catalogue or IFB india website where this product is mentioned. They are selling outdated products for which obtaining spares and support is difficult. People who have reviewed this product after 2007 dont seem to give a favourable opinion for this product.
