Step inside for your very own Guide for the Highly Evolved...
Beware, if you do decide to read Illusions, please, please leave aside your conditioning, your old values, your prejudices and your view of the world around you. This amazing piece of contemporary literature has something for everybody in it.
The secret to enjoying a good book is when you can step into the shoes of the author and can see the world from his eyes. The secret to writing a good one, is when you can force the reader to do just that. This book does just that..
This book caused me to pause, reflect, readjust my rear-view mirrors and wipe clean my windshield.
It is written in first person, and starts with the author, who rides his plane around the countryside, stops where he pleases, gives joy rides to other willing homo-sapiens and generally seems to be floating along without a care in the world.. One day who should pop out of the woodwork, but the Buddha himself (or his modern day equivalent) Donald Shimoda. He is full of ready answers and seemingly impossible deeds (read miracles). He walks on water and through walls, swims in the ground and strives to get his head blown off, by deliberately questioning all that the normal person holds sacred....
But hidden among all this bonhomie and joi de vivre lies a much more poignant thread of questioning. What does my existence mean? Who decides my limits? What is right and wrong? The book throws aside all the rules of society, thereby questioning the very foundation upon which we build our lives. All of societies machinery seems to geared towards creating the normal Boy/Girl... Anything out of the ordinary is frowned upon...and crushed asap. This book questions that line of thinking, going so far as to suggest If the Reluctant Messiah is not enjoying his job...Go ahead and Resign.. Its OK (Now thats a refreshing viewpoint).
Anyone who reads this book with an open mind, will in all probability be left wondering.....What am I here for...and what am I doing to achieve it??? Please stay with the author through the joy ride and try applying some of his most outlandish suggestions... Believe you me...they actually work. Expect no answers, but definitely look to be full of questions at the end of this 80-100 page book.
This book is a pathbreaker and I really dont know if I can compare it with any other one. Each good book of this genre, by any author, mostly stands on its own and frowns down on comparison. But surely a fitting second book by the author of the other most famous book...Jonathan Livingstone Seagull.
Please take time out of your busy schedules to soak up this book..
Hopefully you will enjoy is as much as I did.
Cheerio and Happy Reading....
