India Gate is one of the gems of the capital city. A monument dedicated to the sacrifices made by the Indian soldiers in the WWII, it is one of the major attractions in New Delhi. Each day, thousands of visitors throng the India Gate premises to capture its beauty.
The monument is located in the Connaught Place, one of the poshest areas in Delhi. It is surrounded by a huge, well-maintained garden. You need not pay any fee here, as the entry to the monument is free. India Gate has the names of all the martyrs of WWII inscribed in it. You can actually read the names, if you have a closer look at it. However, for security reasons, the monument is now usually barricaded. There is flame right in the middle of the India Gate, which burns eternally in the memory of the martyrs.
The place, especially, looks beautiful at night with glowing lights adding to the charm. There are several food stalls available here, or you can bring snacks with you and have a light eat-out in the garden. There is also a lake nearby, where you can enjoy a boat ride. You can also visit the other major attractions like the Rajpath, The Parliament House etc. when you are here.
The place is well-connected too, with the nearest metro station being the Central Secretariat.
