New Delhi : A 16-year-old girl was allegedly raped for two days by a doctor in a hostel in Safdarjung hospital. The accused, Ravi Kumar, was arrested on Saturday after the victim reported the matter to the police.
The victim reportedly had gone to the hospital on May 12 for treatment of her nose. ? She met Kumar in the hospital around 9:30 am. She said in her complaint that the doctor cajoled her into accompanying him to the hostel where he lived, ? said a police officer.
The victim has told the police that she knew Kumar well.
He reportedly took her to his room in the hostel and offered her a glass of water. The victim said that she became unconscious after drinking the water and found herself undressed after she woke up.
The accused allegedly kept the victim confined to his room for two days and repeatedly raped her. She was dropped near her home by the accused on May14. He also allegedly threatened her saying she would be in trouble if she reported the matter to the police.
?We have registered a case of kidnapping and rape against the accused and the matter is being investigated, ? said addl DCP (south west) Devesh Shrivastava.

No matter how much we want it to be sham, but the fact of the matter is, that this too is a face of India! This is just one of the innumerable such cases that happen in this great country of ours on a daily basis. And if we call ourselves really patriotic we should look into this side of India and do something about it, rather than living in false belief that our country is the greatest and it?s free from all evils.
Yes, India is great and there is no denying this fact. Our motherland was reputed and referred as a golden bird in the early years due to its prosperity and a vast source of natural wealth. Then came the British and stole away from us our affluence, our rights, our life and in a way our pride too. Our holy mother was captured by these brutal demons and was being tortured for no fault of hers.
How will you feel if a group of evil-minded people intrude into your house and capture your innocent mother? I?m sure your blood will boil till extreme and what?s going to follow is a volcanic eruption! This volcanic eruption of the young blood of her sons finally was able to free India from the iron strings of imprisonment. Her sons were ready to do anything for the freedom of their mother and didn?t think twice before sacrificing their life for this noble cause!
Have you ever given it a thought that why did they actually do it? What benefit did they get from giving their own life? If they wanted they could have chosen to be selfish and decided to go on with their own life, without giving two hoots about their country (the attitude many of us adopt in today?s age). But they didn?t. Why? Because of you!
Yes they sacrificed their life so that you can live happily, you can sleep peacefully at nights and you can walk with pride without the humiliation of hearing ?Bloody Indians?! They wanted that the word Indian should be like an ornament for you rather than an abuse. They have given you great history and a rich heritage culture to be proud of, so that you are capable enough of walking to any world stage and proudly announcing that you are an Indian! If they too had adopted an attitude like we are adopting today, we still would have been the slaves of the British and cleaning their toilets!
And what did they ask from you in return? Absolutely nothing. They did all this just for the sheer love a son has for her mother. Before forfeiting their lives, they freed our mother and bestowed her to us. They had faith in us, that even when they won?t be here, we will take care of our motherland in their absence. We will do all we can for its happiness and welfare.
We will once again regain her lost pride and the prosperity. They had expected us to apply medicine on our wounded mother. Maybe they didn?t know, that their brothers aren?t as compassionate as them! Forget applying medicine, her sons started applying salt to her wounds and in place of getting the prosperity back, they didn?t feel shy in looting whatever little prosperity was left.
And I?m deeply sorry to say this, but we all belong to this latter category. We all in someway or the other have hurted or are hurting our country. Whenever you don?t pay your taxes you are hurting your country! When you take someone else?s credit at work, your are making your mother (India) ashamed of you.
Have you ever given it a thought whose credit are you snatching? It?s your very own brother! When you pay a bribe to make your driving license early, again you are hurting your mother. When you (students) cheat in exams, you are betraying your mother. When you don?t give the vote (it?s your duty as you are living in this country) you again are proving to be a bad son.
It?s us who consider voting as a waste of time and we are the first ones to criticize the government for its bad policies. You have no right to do so unless you have voted. And if you have voted & don?t find the proceedings to your taste, then make use of the democratic system. Voice your opinion ? it counts. If you think the political parties aren?t doing what?s requisite, stand for election yourself. Many of us try to run away from the field of politics calling it dirty. It?s dirty because none of us is ready to go out there and clean it up. It?s high time, that the youth and the middle class do something about it. As they are the only ones who can change the future of this country.
These were still the minor cases of hurting our country. The major ones are the instances of rape and murder. Have we never thought that girl we are raping is our very own sister (daughter of our motherland) and the guy we are killing is our very own brother (son of our country)! Even devils aren?t so degraded that they will do such a cold-blooded act! Have we fallen down till this extent on values that we have even left the imps behind us? Are we the same Indians the example of whose values was given to the whole world?
Earlier the intruders tortured us and we can?t really expect a bouquet of flowers from the strangers. Can we? But what hurts is the fact that now we are being tortured within our very own family! Just imagine yourself betraying your very own mother for your profit and your brother doing the same thing to you! Our generation is so egocentric that they really don?t care about the country they live in and the fellow countrymen.
