The land of the GODs,
The land of eternal LOVE,
The land of smiling faces
And lot’s more clichés like these that have been used
to describe our great country…..
Let’s be honest and ask ourselves, do we really deserve such descriptions, OR, are we really worthy of such accolades?
If you were honest with yourself then the answer would be a BIG ‘NO’
These descriptions were true during the times of our great forefathers like Mahatma Gandhi and Nehru. Then there was sacrifice without personal gain BUT these days…its dog eat dog, and if my pocket is getting filled at the expense of others than tough luck to the others.
Survival is the name of the game these days…. Not that I am against survival but the fact that the true love all us Indians held in our hearts some years back is melting away and we are becoming a nation of self conscious beings, is heart breaking.
TRUE, that this is a worldwide scenario and not just in India, BUT do we really have to follow the rest of the world?
We are seeing the gradual change in our society where western cultural and social behavioural pattern is emerging. Let’s take the present, to justify this point…
I went to the Navratri festival yesterday, and was absolutely flabbergasted at what I saw - skimpy clad dancers on the podium dancing to the beats of bollywood music. Where are the traditional values gone? Is this really a festival to celebrate the triumph of good over evil? Playing bollywood hits at a religious festival and not only that but people wearing shoes while dancing and really doing disco dances instead of the traditional garbas? Can someone really explain why such a debacle is allowed to take place in the name of religious events?
Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong in people enjoying themselves and dancing to the liveliest of music BUT there is a time and place for everything. These days every religious event has been turned into a commercial event for someone to fill their pockets.
Let us all wake up, and get back to our true values. We do not have to suppress ourselves. We do need change and adopt some of the western progressive methods BUT we should not loose our identity.
India is hailed as the silicon valley of the world. Isn’t that a good start? We have the brains, power and ample resources at our disposal to make this country the envy of the rest of the world. This is a challenge to all those growing up in this great country of ours let us make it true ‘SARE JAHAN SE UCHHA HINDUSTAN HUMARA’
Stand up to your rights and demand a fair living from the politicians of this country, do not feed the evil of corruption but help in stamp it out.
Stand up to the people who preach violence against others in the name of religion, we are all Hindustanis before we are Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs or Christians.
Let us all make this country the envy of the world.
I know, I’ll get a lot of abuse for posting this under India-General category but this is probably the only place I could post it.
I rate this country the best in the world and I am a very proud Indian hence the reason for my moving to this country (I am an ex NRI)…. I would like all my brethren to feel the same love I have for Bharat Mata
