I am writing about the recent outburst of Ganguly against some past cricketers turned commentators. The problem with Ganguly and Tendulkar is that they think that they are bigger than the country or the game itself. All they care about is their own records and how many runs they have on the board. Although Ganguly is in poor form he insists on coming as opener or 1 down . Isnt it just to pile up some runs for himself even if takes twice the number of balls to do that and at the expense of team ?
Players like Gavaskar or Srikanth do not need certificates from the likes of Ganguly. Its true that Srikanth does not have a very good average but that is because he never cared about piling up a big score for himself even if takes twice the number of balls to do that. He only played for India and Indian people not for himself or endorsements.
Last but not the least Ganguly & Co. should be mature enough to know that if they give club class performances like the once against Australia and Holland(even though they won the match) Indian people and commentators have every right to criticise them. By pointing fingers at senior players he cannot justify the poor show by him and his team. Instead of getting involved in loose talk Mr.Ganguly should try to learn something from them. Its true its not possible to win all the time but the thing that matters most is a good fighting performance.
