Lord's of the game for once

It is a coincidence that I last wrote about the Indian team when I was completely annoyed with them. It was the Mumbai evening when Flintoff bowled Srinath, won the match and took of his shirt and ran around Wankhede Stadium.

Cut to Lord’s, Saturday evening, Natwest final, the overthrow gives India victory and off goes Ganguly’s shirt. No matter what anyone says about that incident, I say that he has a very good memory.

One had a feeling that he was waiting to do it. At least I was waiting for someone to do it. It was a wonderful sight.

It was only fitting that the same bowler was bowling the final over.

What a great leveller the game of cricket.

And what a game it was. Like our captain courageous, I too favour Yuvraj being a permanent member of the Indian team. This time he proved everyone right. And so did Kaif, he proved that India’s winning the U-19 world cup wasn’t a fluke.

It’s a pity that Agarkar missed the game - he had to be there. This was perhaps a major blemish, after all between Kumble and Harbhajan only one wicket! And Rahul Dravid who was excellent in the whole tournament gave a reason to everyone to reconsider things once again.

Anyways, who wants to remember that. The only thing we wanna remember that India won a final after ages, and what a final. Never have I seen the team fighting till the end so consistently.

We deserved to win, we did.
