With the team selection done in the past taken into consideration calling them ’a bunch of jokers’ by Mohinder Amarnath seemed quite appropriate . But the selection this time is a mind blowing .Firstly I think the players are gelong together very well and going in as a cohesive unit .
If we see the past most matches r won or lost in the first session of the match . Having three specialist openers seems a smart move which had been lacking till now . Mostly in the past after , afer the likes of Sidhu and Prabhakar we always had a makeshift opening pair .In this team we have S.S.Das , Wasim Jaffer who are professional 1st class openers and also Deep Dasgupta who may not be a professional opener , but has provide his caliber at that spot in South Africa against the likes of Shaun Pollock .
Now for the middle order . This is the most strongest part of the Indian Team but also has been notoriously famous for its collapse . This time I doubt it to happen , since it is a very strong attack comprising of Sourav Gangully, Sachin Tendulkar, V.V.S Laxman , and the latest guy Dinesh Mongia .It also has a special all rounder in Sanjay Bangar.
As for having two keepers in the team , will I think from the time I was born , I remember Sunil Gavaskar almost begging the selectors to have two keepers in case one of them gets injured.Also this puts some positive pressure on the keepers to perform well.
With the bowling attack , I must say it looks really Bright .Ist time I may be eager to see the Indians bowl .It is a nice mixture of experience and youth .Srinath , Zaheer , Nehra, Tinnu Yohanan seems very strong .With spin attack comprising of Kumble and Harbhajan(who may not play the 1st test ) and Sarandeep Singh also called for see to be a icing on the cake .With this I end my views on the team and wish them the Best Of Luck .
