The Master of the Puppets..

Well so Indian Idol 2 ~ ’Pagla Kaun’ nears the end of another season (thank god!)

Today as I write this review 5 are left~ Karunya, Amay, Sandeep, Antara, and Anuj.

Well there’s only one reason I am writing this review.. its that i’m bugged.. well to find out why read on:)

The Beginning

Well Indian Idol started off as a huge success.. As you must be knowing it was yet another adaption ~ Its Dad was American Idol .. Well as American Idol covers seasons and seasons producing great talents like Kelly Clarkson and company.. our very own Indian Idol was very successful itself.. Record breaking votes (thats wat they claimed!) .. and some more claims .. Our first Indian Idol Abhijeeeeeeet Sawant (yeah.. thats the way they pronounce it!)was crowned amongst much fanfare and ofcourse, publicity

Season 1 was undoubtedly one of the best things to happen to Indian Television in recent times .. no doubt.. The humbleness of Harish Moyal, The Punjab Da Puttar Ravinder Ravi , Prajakta Shukre, Rahul Vaidya’s Sonu Acts, the fantastic Amit Sana .. lets face it .. they had become house hold names.. It was a welcome change from the K-iller Serials..

People were voting like mad men . Yes.. Indian Idol was a huge success..

The Turnaround

Indian Idol 2 was launched too amidst much fanfare... this time though things have changed ..

No more is the humbleness visible.. the contestants act as if just by entering the prelims they have become icons! Sad.. This time around Sare Gama has stole the show.. Singing talent has become highly talented to a restricted Karunya or Amay.. Whereas SareGama had ’you name it.they’ve got’ talents.. This time around seriously there looks to be no hope.. the level of competition has gone down drastically.. The ’Ladke’s~ Ladki’s’ concept has become an absolute bore.. But the serious setback has been surely the marketing this time around.. Instead of sustaining the Indian Idol success they’ve just made the contestants ’Larger than Life’ ..

The Good

Sonu Nigam ~ I seriously feel he’s the only valid Judge for the Indian Idol.. You may say Any Malik.. but I feel plagiarists better be avoided.. i seriously feel sorry for the contestants who buter him by saying ’ Anu Sir .. you’re undoubtedly the best music director in the county ’ .. its like A.R. Rehman who? Sonu Nigam I feel is the only judge who really deserves to be on the panel.. Moreover he judging is fair and justified.. Others judgement~ well the lesser said the better..

Karunya He looks to be the only decent find this year.. Others are just there for the sake of being there.. He’s perfect playback material.. Got a great voice and looks wise is pretty ok too.. Really rocked the stage with his ’Allah Allah’ perfomance this week.. unfortunately he is a frequent visitor to the Ankhreen Teen nowadays !

Host’s Mini Mathur looks stunning.. feel most of the TRP’s on Indian Idol are due to her !

Well jokes apart.. She is fantastic in hosting...

Aman Varma well cant say the same for him.. but he’s pretty decent too..

The Bad

Bias Voting Well this is one big problem with the concept of Indian Idol.. There so much emphasis on the region where the contestant comes from that there is obvious regional biasness in voting..

Whats really sick is that contestants keep on saying ’’main rajasthan (for e.g. ) ki logo ke yeh nivedan karna chahoonga ki mujhe dher sare vote de’’ Grow Up man.. if you’re talented then youre gonna get the votes silly!

Theres moreover a huge misconception for people who are not that well off and they have this ’Bechara’ image and are trying to emotionally win votes!

Farha Khan She is there just for the ’performance’ bit you see.. well she’s as good as Micheal Holding giving a lecture on how to deliver a effective speech

And the Ugly

The Pissin’ Factor

Now let me come to the title Master of The Puppets

The reason for this title is that the contestants are selling their emotions

Take Antara for example .. she was asked on one particular show ’’tum abhi sab se jyaada kyaan chahti ho? and she replies Ma ko abhi sabse jyaada chahti hoon .. Mini screams out.. Ladies and gentleman today we have Antara’s mom here with us Wow ..... either Mini Mathur’s A Houdini or we are first graded fools
