Indian Idol - Apalling voting

Review of Indian Idol... program on Sony

Watched Indian Idol of today 29th Jan and was agape at the injustice met out by Indian ’’Janta Janardan’’ again. One of the best singers Aditi was voted out whereas Ravinder Ravi the worst with a large gap in quality of rendition sits pretty in the show.

In many ways this is similar to the votings we see in general elections on factors like sympathy, caste and religion. The format of the program is faulty - people should vote ’’out’’ the person who is the worst rather than vote ’’in’’ their favorite - that way this sympathy madness will stop.

Hope Sony is listening!

However the program is unique in India and is really well designed. Fridays episode really creates lot of tension in the Indian households with each backing his or her own favorites.

My favorites in order of merit in the balance singers

  1. Amit Sana

  2. Rahul Vaidya

  3. Abhijt Sawant

  4. Prajakta

  5. Ravinder Ravi
