About 10 years back, people used to wait for the postman for delivery of the letters, interview cards etc.. People used to visit the Post office either to post their letters or purchase stamps or payment of telephone bills. Now thanks to internet letter writing is no longer prevalent and no need to go to post office to purchase stamps or post their letters.
Courier services have done away with registered posts. Online payment have done away with payment of telephone bills in post office. Even the postal savings bank is no longer popular except for Recurring Deposits opened and manged by some agents.
So what to do post offices do. Nothing but hatch eggs, . Even there is drastic reduction of letters still it is not delivered. Yesterday, I went to the post office to post a cover. I asked the postal clerk sitting in the counter to tell me the denomination of the stamp required.
She said the weighing machine is not working, so you go and get it weighed in another post office. So, I told her at least feel the weight of the cover and let me know the approximate postage. She was not interested in obliging me. I do not why they keep such post office and what is the kind of service they render.
