Iam seen terrible movies in 2017 and this one tops the list. I went to the theater just for the curiosity that it had created in the trailer with elements showing of one of the dominate family of India. I will keep it simple and short.
Movie is all about Indu Sarkar(Kirti), Yes that it the first twist. As people had expected the same is based on one of the great prime minister we had. Movie tried to showcase the eventualities that occurred during the " Emergency " period.
Just in brief, state of emergency was imposed in India between 1975 till 1977, once the emergency is imposed by the President, few cabinet ministers have the power to overpower the rules of the constitution and thus a threat to the democracy. Now that is explained about the movie.
Indu Sarkar at the start of the movie is shown that she is a poet and orphan and then she gets married to Navin sarkar(Tota). Navin is a part of the government and agrees to state was emergency that was imposed. Navin in one of he scene also mention to Indu that emergency will not be discussed in their house.
The whole drama unfolds when during one of the demolition drive, Indu rescues two children and then looks for their parents. In the process Indu gets deep the dirty part of the politics in which her husband is also a part of.
Indu Stammers while talking, dont know why Director taught of it. Neil nitin in the movie is a complete bad person and tries to portray someone who is son of the prime minsters and who plays a major role in implementing the state of emergency. Neil calls the prime minister " Mummy" in front of the cabinet minister.
There is a cameo role by Anupam Kher.
This movie kept dragging for 2hr 20 mins and you are quite relieved with the torture when it ends, like I said I only watched it on pure curiosity.
Yes, there is a qawwali as well with no absolute timing.
Kirti has not been exploited to her full potential, she is a fabulous actress as seen in "Pink". Neil just seems to try to be someone else and it clears shows that on the screen and he failed in it.
Bad camera work, which clearly shows weakness in the script.
Madhu as a director can relax cause this is not one of his worst movies, in the past he had already given some bad films.
I could only hear lot of Violin playing in the background and it was not catchy and made no justice to the film.
I would never advise anyone to watch this movie in theater. it just not worth it.
On that note Super Frustrated and disappointed Raga Signing off
