What is Infosys?
I am somebody who has known this company since long. One can review this company from 3 perspective.
1) As a Customer of Infosys
2) As an Investor
3) As an Employee
1) As a customer, infosys is the best company if you want to get quality development work done at cheap price. The marketing folks will go to any extent to get the contract signed. The project managers will work the developers to death to achieve what marketing had promised. 95% chance is that you’ll get a quality deliverable in time. Even though a couple of people will end up with mental stress and other health problems because of the excessive work. And yes... don’t take the risk of giving business transformation or any high end work.
2) As an investor, it’s the IT company to invest. Gives good dividend if you are a long term investor. Fluctuates a lot for the trader to make some mullah. And the company basics are strong has a huge cash reserve. It will not collapse. Your investments are safe here.
3) As an employee.... It’s a different picture. All that glitters is not gold. Even employees keep silent because they don’t want to show the bad image of Infy. It was a good company some 6 - 7 years back. But when an organization grows, it loses it’s human face. Employees are treated as "Resources" not human beings. Your entry, exit, what exactly you do, your efficiency, utilization everything is tracked. If you work for more than 8 hours, it’s expected from you, if you clock less or forget to swipe your card you get a mail from HR. All local expenses are expected to be borne by employee first and then reimbursed (Finance folks often come back with policies to reject your claim). You have nice campus, landscaped garden etc. But too less seating space for employees, too less space for Food courts etc. One should see the lines in food court for Coupons, then Food, and then table. It’s just not planned properly. Infosys is powered by cyber slaves and driven by their greedy managers. No respect for innovation, no respect for quality... All words but no action when it comes to employee benefit. There is discrimination between foreigners hired abroad and Indians sent abroad on work permit.
But after all it works... employees are not so important And... Investors and customers need not worry.
