Cable internet still to evolve satisfactorily !

Here in Bombay, India, broadband has just started to catch on at Rs.1000/-per month with installation charges of Rs.3500/-for unlimited usage from BSES Telecom.

Due to recurring cost of telephone bills (at almost Rs.24/- per hour) besides the ISP charges which are almost negligible, regular internet surfers and users are opting for the broadband services.

Cable modems from In cable and WAN services from WIN Cable are here too, but these are mostly not professionally managed and are not questionable for deficiency in service which makes them not very attractive.

Due to lack of a very robust infrastructure dial up connections suffer from frequent disconnections and slow speeds which are in various stages of improvement due to upgradation but which will take some time.

Demographic conditions in Bombay are such that the monsoon rains can cause havoc to the underground and overhead cables and wires.

As if these are not enough, the otherwise rampant digging up of roads for laying sewage pipes or power, gas and telephone connections leads to chaos at any time of the year.

In such a scenario, In cable is one of the better options although they should pull up their socks as regards customer satisfaction and follow ups to customer queries and complaints
