Must watch for every DREAMER!!!

Am ashamed of myself…..and to some extent even upset!

I sort of gave up on watching this movie at Imax but by stroke of luck…got tickets on Sunday!

Iqbal…what can I say about this movie…..It actually took me some 30 minutes to think of how to start off this review….and I am still struggling with the thought!

It’s a dreamer’s story! Just like the Alchemist! This movie is about following your dreams and believing in them! As they say ’’if you want something in life, then the entire universe conspires to help you’’! The music is superb...matchless!!!

This movie is about an 18 year old gun, who is a prodigy when it comes to cricket! Remember the Coke add? “Eat, Drink, Sleep Cricket!”, Well, our dude took their word for it!

Our Dreamer is deaf and dumb. By dumb I meant speechless…its actually the German word dumm coz of whom we think dumb means stupid. He has a loving and rigid father. A loving mom, who lets him pursue his dream..and who also adds ’’don’t let your dreams die’’. His sister is played by Shweta Prasad who has done a marvelous job with her role!!

Iqbal has an undying love for Cricket, and he dreams of himself as a fast bowler in Indian Cricket Team. His sister is more than supportive of his dream, and his mother gives him shot in the arm by allowing him to join an cricket academy, where he meets the guru ji “Girish karnad”. He turns out to be the fox in disguise. Iqbal is kicked out of the academy due to some uneventful turnings.

This hurts him so deep that it drives him to the verge of giving up. When just at the moment he sees a half burnt clip, which says ’’It is difficult but not impossible’’..with our beloved Naseer’s pic. posing and sitting with the cricket team. Naseer aka Mohit, used to be a great bowler himself but had to give up as Guru ji turned his back on him when he needed him most, by taking some rich guy and thus ruining Mohits future. Mohit has given up on life ever since and has earned the notoriety of a drunkard! There is a heart warming relation between Mohit and Iqbal! With the later, waking him up every morning with the oooh-so-irritating splashes on water! Finally, Mohit is moved with the conviction he sees in Iqbal and takes on the job of training him!

This movie is filled up of moments that will just touch the very bottom of your heart!

All through the movie, I was so gripped that I did not even miss my breakfast (which, I cant live without).

Finally, Iqbal gets a chance to play from the Andhra Team for Ranji trophy. There again he faces hurdles such as his father, who is heavily indebted and wants him to just work in the fields with him. Or Guru ji, who tries to stuff him up with 50 lac check to TANK in the match against his candidate.

All said and done….Iqbal is about Never-Give-Up attitude. And following your dreams!

There are so many scenes, which I would love to tell you about.

  1. Right form the appearance of Iqbal, they show an aura of innocence and naivety on his face, but the moment he turns his face to bowl! That same face shouts of conviction and immense amount of confidence!

  2. One of the weak moments for his father, when he is talking to Iqbal’s mom. And when his mom makes him understand that Iqbal was not to blame for all the things that have gone wrong.

  3. The Chakravyu being implemented by Iqbal was a great to watch.

  4. Watching Naseer live every scene and delivering dialogues. He is adorable and a perfectly refined actor.

  5. Lots and lots of it! But then that will make the review to biiiiiig!

I have burnt this CD already…and whosoever want it just let me know, I will ship it to you (just cover the shipping charges yourself) lol.
