Murfin's Ford Proves That Answer Is YES!!!

One of the first things I ever wrote for that site like this one that starts with an E was an article about Junior Valentino and Snow White.

Who are they?

They’re the 1995 GrandPrix cars(mine red and my folks’ white) which we bought new in the summer of that same year.

Although they have a lot of pluses, I now refer to them by names such as The Katzenjammer Kids, Lemon Crybabies, and Pantywaists.

My car, alone, has had the alternator replaced three times(four alternators in  six years!), and it seems as if either one or the other is getting pampered at the mechanic’s while my folks and I share the one that’s at least half-working.

Anyway, don’t even get me started!

In the past few days, my motor got murdered by high water when driving across Murfin’s Ford!  MURDERED!

And it required a tow.

Now, I have travel insurance that’s popular in the United States.  It’s called AAA.

For$55 per year(and I could have paid less, but I wanted it enhanced some), I’ve gotten discounts averaging 10% at most motels/hotels I stay at-which is great for a frequent traveler like myself-plus I also receive a monthly magazine chock-full of information about places to go and see.

There are other parts of my membership that I haven’t even taken advantage of, such as something called Trip-Tix where they plan your routing for you.  Since I’m one of those people who prefer the more restful and picturesque backroads, this isn’t one of the things that I need, but I know it comes in handy for those who want to find the shortest distance between points A and B.

Besides using AAA for lodging discounts and enjoying their magazine, one of the things that has, obviously, come in very handy for me is the towing service.

The first few(four, I believe) miles of my tow is free, and it’s about$2 per mile after that.

No tow has cost me more than$10 or$12 out of my own pocket-and, usually, between$4 &$8.

But, even with a great service like AAA, you can only get so much of a good thing-so I ended up maxing out of my road service, and this last tow was a cash call.

What would have likely cost me$12 tops(and, probably, less) ended up costing me$65.

Imagine if all of my tows I’ve had this year had ended up costing me between$45 and$65!  That would have been quite a chunk out of my bank account.

This single last tow cost me$10 more than my entire annual membership with AAA!

So, is travel insurance a good investment?

While I can’t speak from experience in regards to every type, I can certainly say that, in the case of AAA, the answer is yes! Yes! YES!
