Awaken Ur senses....

Apna chehra na badla gaya,

Aaine se khafaa ho gaye....

(Unable 2 change his own face/ himself,

Man, at his own mirror, sulks....)

Truth is a bitter pill 2 swallow. But, d 1 who has d courage 2 1st admit his faults & then try 2 overcome it, will take d pill & recover too. But, man is a selfish social animal & prefers 2 c things & mould them according 2 his own sweet convenience. Humanity, kindness, helpfullness & a love & respect 4 innocence has been shadowed by animal instincts, lust, cruelty, corruption.... all triggered by selfishness, selfishness & more selfishness.

The movie ’Jaago’ has been inspired by d real life case of a young, innocent, school going girl who has all d qualities 2 grow up in2 a lovely, successful, bright human being. D only daughter of her parents, living in d suburbs of Mumbai, they portray an ordinary family. Both parents r employed & trying their best 2 give their young girl a good future, with dreams of her leaving their house 2 brighten another home. D young girl, travels d distance of Mumbai by d local train 2 go 2 school daily.

1 day, as she stays back 4 a rehersal, she gets locked up by mistake in d huge school by d watchman who has been summoned by d Principal 2 do some household work (Not an uncommon practise). He returns at midnite & when he finds d young girl there, takes her 2 d Railway station. She gets in2 a compartment which has only 3 passengers- an old man & 2 ladies. But, as d train starts moving, 3 drug addicts, looking 4 a fun time, get in2 d same compartment. Shooting a warning look at d only other occupants, they brutally gang rape d helpless girl screaming 4 help & leave her 2 die. She is found alive, but in a coma & struggling 4 life. News spreads like wild fire & d media try 2 find out everything. D parents of d victim r summoned 2 d hospital where d young girl, in a state of shock & fear even in her unconscious state, dies.

D story takes every1 by rage & d CM orders d culprits b brought 2 task. A very fragile case, it is handed over 2 a cop who is mocked as a lunatic only cos he’s honest & hardworking. He starts his investigation, but everywhere finds dat no1 is ready 2 help d police as they r popular 4 their corruption & cruelty. He also faces a lot of challenges as d culprits r children of rich & powerful fathers, who r ready 2 pay any price 2 save their children.

How does d lone cop work his way out when all r out 2 get him? Is he able 2 convince people 2 help him? Does his honesty get him transferred 2 a far-flung village where all around him r just empty spaces? Do d parents of d young girl get justice? R d people in d top notch really unreachable? Dats what this movie is all about....

This movie is a complete Manoj Bajpai film, who represents d honest cop. His natural acting & stern attitude is enacted with grace & justice. His no-nonsense attitude makes 1 admire & respect d few policemen who r still true 2 their duty. Sanjay Kapoor did not get 2 show his acting skills too much & he needs more polishing. Raveena Tandon, as d grieving mother, has done a wonderful role in most scenes. An Indian mother, who loves her baby so much that she can risk everything 2 seek justice 4 her. D other characters r not much 2 speak of & only appear as d background of d movie. However, such a delicate subject shud have been dealt with in a more sensitive & strong manner. Even if U do not wish 2 watch it, U shud ponder on d morals its trying 2 inculcate!

Rape- even d word can send a chill in d hearts of those who know its deep meaning. 4 most of us, its just a word like murder. How many of us can really understand how it changes d entire world of d victim & those related? It is d worst possible crime whereby d victim feels helpless, ripped off of all innocence, humiliated & branded as an unworthy human. D physical wounds will heal in time, but will d wounds inflicted on d soul ever subside? D culprits commit d offence once but how many times does d victim live thru d painful ordeal? Each time sum1 asks her about d incident, sum1 looks at her with pity, sum1 shuns her 4 no fault of hers except dat of being born d weaker sex; everytime she closes her eyes 2 sleep & wakes up screaming in d middle of d nite, whenever she realizes d culprits r still alive & mayB even roaming scotfree; she relives dat un4gettable humiliation.

It is easy 2 say things 4m a distance. D pain can b experienced only if d victim is related 2 us. Why? R we, as human beings, not related in humanity? Such incidents r passed off as an un4tunate happening, or sumtimes even related 2 others with additions of masala. It’s disgusting dat no1 dares 2 come 4ward 2 help them find a way 2 live, even if no other help can B offered. Life doesn’t stop, not even 4 d most un4tunate of humans. But they do stop; not cos dats d way it happens, but cos, d world becomes a lonely & cruel reminder of d past.

On d other hand, d movie is trying 2 teach every1 dat If we mind our own business & fulfil our duties, not only 2wards our work but also 2wards our human brethren, it wud B a much better place 2 live in; made better by collective effort of U & Me! This movie tries 2 expose corrupt officials who hold a high post & using their power, always escape justice. It tries 2 give a ray of hope by portraying a few honest men who still worship their work, even if d consequences r threatening.

This movie is a cry 2 awaken d human slumbering deep within each 1 of us, a plea 2 arouse our dead conscience, a request 2 make a difference 2 d world in our own little way, a reminder dat God has made us superior 2 animals, an awakening 2 d fact dat life is beautiful & precious, if we only care.... AWAKE.... JAAGO!
