JAAN-e-MANN is to be precise a moderately enjoyable movie. its good in parts though the plot is a very unstable and the treatment larger than life. also the screenplay falters at quite many places. one thing is for sure. shirish kunder is a talented director. he has adopted a unique screenplay pattern and has unapologetically contradicted the typical indian cinema parameters.
the film is very entertaining at times but skips the logical reasoning at its cost. the cinematography is surprisingly lyrical. sudeep[ chatterjee does a marvellous job in portryaing salmans emotions so well through th visuals. it seems that farah khan has left no stone unturned in making an extra special effort for her hubbys film. the song picturisation is one of the plus points of the movie. "humko maalum hai"s choroegraphy was very innovative and deserves a mention.
music by AANU MALIK is above average. his teaming up with GULZAR has come up triumphs as we get to hear some lines like "KABOOL KAR LE" and "DONO BAAGHI HO CHALE", and many others which fortunately go with the essence of the situations.
yes, shirish kunder did fail at doing justice to AKSHAY KUMARs role. nevertheless, AKSHAY has come up with an endearing performance. SALMAAN KHAN was very good in his central character. PREITY ZINTA couldnt succeed in making a huge impact as PIYA. she was just OK.
though the film has some very touching moments, the film somewhat lacks that sort of emotional resonance it promised. thats why one is forced to wonder at times why salmaans character sobs so much through out the last 1 hour or so.
all and all, the film is made well and is watchable once, or twice !
