I have a lots and lots of respect to Imtiaz Ali as a Director and has given us some wonderful films, however Iam very much disappointed in "Harry met Sejal". I have no idea what was the idea behind making this movie, was it Sharukh desperately needs a hit.
Movie in short is all about a Gujrati girl and a Punjabi munda, Here Munda is a tourist guide and Kuddi is a Tourist was got engaged and then lost her fiance’s ring. Kuddi(Sejal) wants Munda(Harry) to take her back to all the places she has visited to find the ring. Ring is a her finance’s family ring. Harry tries all means to get rid of Sejal but fails, Harry goes to the extend saying that he is a womanizer but Sejal show complete faith in him. Sejal gujrathi accent is irritating and Harry is the wrong choice for the role. In process of finding the ring there are fights with the mafia, Harry attends his friends wedding and all that.
This is as if a chunk of story is taken out from "Pyar toh hona hi tha" movie.
Sejal finds her rings but does not disclose it to Harry and so on.
Sejal comes back to India and Harry follows her to get his love back and how the story unfolds.
Anuskha is too loud, she has taken wrong notes of her character that all gujarati speak on a high note. Sharuk wha can I say, he is just not for his role or he was not able to get into the character. It seems irrespective of the script he tries his romantic charm which does no suit him in this movie. In other words he has failed to convince me that he is in his 50s and playing a romantic hero.
Background music is good, however songs do not go with the mood of the movie, they are just added cause movie needs songs. Phoor song is good.
Major part is shot is London, so I paid 180/ for ticket and I saw almost the entire Europe, Cinematography was nice and have captured few nice moments.
Overall it is a boring movie, cause when it becomes very predictable whats going to happen and also there was no different touch to the same old story.
On that note very disappointed Raga signing off
