Was told that my seat was different from the one I booked because there was a gentleman supposed to sit in the next seat (clearly an arrangement only acceptable in aircrafts where it is ok for men and women to sit together). I was ok with a male sitting next to me anyway. I said I wanted a window seat as thats what I had booked online (seat selection being an option). At Koyambedu, a very high handed member of the Jabbar Travels family asked to get up and take another bus which would arrive in the next 10 mins as my seat had been allocated as part of a set to a family of 4. When I asked his name - he smiled and asked why, are you going to complain? Clearly he is a man well versed with the pointlessness of complaints and confident that he will not be questioned. He told me that this had to be done as he cannot lose 45k on a trip and has to adjust the seating to ensure maximum income, And for that I had to get off a bus and wait near CMBT until the next bus would take me 1.5 hrs (maybe) later to my destination.
I suppose I was supposed to me ok with this - after all I am a passenger and this was a representative of Jabbar Travels who knew how to organise my life, thank you very much. I put my foot down at the delayed time because now the next bus would come 8.15 am and not 7.55 am - but a passenger cannot question these things. I was allowed back on the bus - which weirdly had ample seats available to take in 10 more passengers at the very least. Ironically I got a window seat and the one next to me was empty! This is the first time that a Bus Operator has shown such blatant disregard for common decency. I had the same experience when travelling to Chennai through the same travels - I had to sleep next to a woman with a child, no questions asked. If a single woman cannot be accommodated, seat/berth selection should not be offered on online bookings.
My worst experience till date. Avoid at all costs. There are loads of other operators who do a better job.
