I had been to the Jamawar this Wednesday for dinner with my friend. The ambiance can be described only in one word "ROYAL". I cant find fault with anything, perfect lighting and decor, EXTREMELY comfortable seating and service was nothing short of excellent. I requested the dishes to be served in ten minutes, wanted it spicy, and in a certain order, did they "follow the instructions"
You also have the option of sitting by the garden, I prefer the cleaner indoor air which still gives you the garden view.
The menu however is pretty limited with not many choices. I guess this rule applies to all star hotels to make sure the dishes are served fresh and quickly. The choices are mainly a combination of lukhnowi and hydrabadi dishes. The lukhnowi dishes being mainly in the Awadhi Dum Pukht style.
I ordered for Whole lamp leg, gawalti kebabs and rogangosh with rotis. All of it was the best I ever had. The raan was out of the world and the kababs beat the Bukhara Delhi. The rogangosh though not exactly the kashmiri kind was still very good. ( they use shazera, mawal and pran in kashmir to make most wazwan dishes.)
I could not help calling on the chef, expecting to see a fifty year old sous chef, he turned out to be less than 30. No prizes for guessing where he is from.
As expected the bill was outrageous, 3200 rs for the four dishes. Well is it worth it? After three days of thinking over it, for that special moment; I can assure you; it is.
If you want to treat yourself to the very best, give this place a try. One word of caution, do not look at the bill. Hand over your credit card to the captain and dont see the numbers on the charge slip, at least not that evening.
To all the foodies >>>Best wishes
