Jarann is one of the best horror movies I have ever watched. I grew up watching horror movies, as I love those movies a lot due to the suspense and thrill they hold till the end. This movie is different. Along with supernatural elements, it has also shown superstition, blind faith, and its impact on the lives of individuals or families. I loved its message, which may deeply impact the people who believe such things and spoil their lives. The movie also grabbed my attention as it is presented by the renowned director Anees Bazmee, known for his remarkable direction of the superhit movies Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3.
The Plot:
The movie explores the theme of witchcraft, ancient superstitions, fear, mystery, psychological turmoil, and the consequences of blind faith. It is a psychological thriller movie that shows a family facing supernatural chaos when witchcraft and ancient belief invade their remote village, with a woman at the center confronting the dark truth behind the ritual and her dark identity. The movie is directed by Rushikesh Gupte, featuring Amruta Subhash, Anita Date, Seema Deshmukh, and Rajan Bhise. The movie is described as a psychological thriller with horror elements that aim to make people aware of superstitions and blind belief.
Performance:
Amruta Subhash is the soul and centerpiece of the movie Jarann. Even after tirelessly acting in several movies, her character in the movie is still refreshing and energetic. She has played the role of Lady Radha, who is deeply traumatised by a road accident. Her role in the movie could be best described as terrified, terrifying, and terrific. She was shown as a lady who has endured a difficult childhood and lives under a constant shadow that her daughter might be affected by the same darkness she experienced. Apart from Amruta, the other characters of the movie, Anita Dete, Seema Deshmukh, and Rajan Bhise, have also given a remarkable performance in the movie.
Positive Points:
Standout elements- The movie has been a center of interest for its numerous standout elements. It is spot on for its powerful and unsettling atmosphere, strong performance, and unique blend of psychological thriller and horror elements.
Outstanding Soundtrack and Visuals- Soundtracks and visuals have been used effectively to build tension and dread. Also, it enhances the movie-watching experience. The visuals are amazing, with stunning village locations and dynamic camera work.
Thought-Provoking scene- The movie explores the theme of parenting, grief, supernatural elements, and belief systems, which is thought-provoking and beyond the immediate horror that we usually see in common horror movies.
Twist Ending- The most engaging and surprising twists are tying together various elements in the climax of the movie, which gives the movie a twist ending that every audience waits for.
Negative Points:
Overloaded Plot- Although the movie theme is fantastic, I also observed many times that the movie has tried to incorporate too many themes, which could have been minimized, as it has created confusion.
Convenient Holes- The movie has beautifully portrayed the core theme of horror, but somewhere, I found an inconsistency, especially in the way Radhas family reacts to the supernatural occurrence.
Final Verdict:
If you are a horror movie lover like me, you should watch this movie. The movie includes not only supernatural elements but also inspiration. I loved the overall theme and the role of lead actress Amruta Subhash, who wonderfully played her character to grab the attention of the audience. The movies visuals are likely to incorporate elements of witchcraft, dark rituals, and unsettling imagery into the supernatural theme of the story. My experience watching this movie was phenomenal, as I loved the theme, cinematography, music, and everything about this movie, and I am sure that you would love it too.
