Jassi?A story of a middle class girl with all the normal dreams and ideals of a fresh graduate of working hard, honestly, thru the ranks to the top, etc.
-Aired on Sony in the time slot of 9:30 to 10p.m.(India).
-Started off on a good note and we were all waiting for the GRAND MAKEOVER. But it was not to be.
Then we began to identify with Jassi(Mona Singh) admired her for her brains and sense of humour. Soon we didn?t want her to change her look as much as her ?dabboo? character. There was a phase in the serial when it became irritating watching everyone take advantage of her and all she did was stare at them dumbfounded. And that irritating Star Plus kind of duh-duh-duh-duh pseudo-suspense backgrd music! Ugh! I had started watching it once a week on thurs. just to keep in touch. Even the kids gave up on it.
I like:
Jassi?s new mature character-independent, confident?
Mona Singh?s acting(Jassi): The long strides, the normal body posture, no overacting in any situation- whether it is with her best friends, bosses, parents or her ?friend?/beau.
Parmeet Seths acting (Raj): very natural-upper class, gigolo know-it-all-about-women type. loves himself.
Apoorv?s acting(Arman): does the delicate emotions of fear, guilt, shame mixed with brashness very well.
?Maddy sir?: Who?s that guy? No interviews, no publicity. Is he for real? Is he really gay or just a good actor?
depiction of a typically marriage-oriented Punjabi family.
I don?t like:
The backgrd pseudo-suspense music..very soapish.
The way the serial tends to drag unnecessarily at times-again very soap-ish.
?Aryan? and Rakshanda?s overacting.(The only time she was good was when she was depressed)
The fact that not one episode finishes on a happy note
Jassi?s hairstyle: if she is really a simpleton, why the ?fancy? haircut?
We have been watching it pretty regularly. SO, watch it if
You like some natural acting
You want to watch middle class girls making their way in the ?big bad world? successfully(like Tom Cruise in The Firm)
You like to see people pick themselves up with the help of their friends and family whenever they get pushed down by life.
You are ok with tolerating a bit of melodrama and duh-duh-duh-duh suspense.
You are ok on ending the day with a bit of strained suspense.
Happy time pass!
