My son got ill last week and consistently vomiting, I went to jaypee hospital for consultation and doctor advised that issue is due to dehydration and I should get him admitted for 2 days, I was not very satisfied with this suggestion but I thought that if doctor is advising then follow it. They asked that if I had a medical insurance I said yes and asked me about the max room charges allowed as per my policy and I told them that it allows me to take a single room, I asked them whats the initial amount I need to pay, to this they told me that first they will confirm the room then I would need to pay. I asked my wife to do the formalities and went to the food court for lunch. When I went back I asked my wife if they inform her about the room, she told me that they told her that we need to pay 15k in advance and before that they cannot book the room. Hearing this I got very angry that when I offered the amount they told me that first they will look for the room and then only will take the advance. I paid 15 k to them and then they told me sir there is no single room but someone will get discharge and then we will provide you the room. I asked them how long I need to wait, they told me wait for 2 hours. After 2 hours they told me that there is no single room available and I can only get a twin sharing room. I asked them then why did you waste my time if the room was not available.
Some instances:
a. they behave as if you are theif, my son was feeling very hungry as he didnt like the food served in hospital so I asked him if he want to eat out in food court, there was this lady at the reception which told me since he hasnt got discharge I cant take him out to the food court(Bloody hell), I talk to her supervisor and then matter got sorted out.
b. TPA helpdesk at jaypee is utter crap, the guy were constantly on phone with his friends and we were sitting in front of him as you do in govt office.
c. room got change thrice, Nurse told that sir since you have single room package and we have single room available now we can shift you there and she shifted us to a single room and then she came and told us that she wasnt aware that the room was already booked and we need to shift to the earlier twin sharing room:(, this was in addition to the 2.5 hour wait that we did in the waiting area/
d. this dehydration medication cost me around 18k(would you believe it:O), although I was saved as I had medical insurance. but 18k for a dehydration medication thats bloody too much, I checked the bill and they charged 9000 for our 24 hour stay(charged 6000 per day and added half day as well for 24 hour stay), 6000 were investigation charges which includes, malaria, renal and what not. I dont know why those tests were even required when you are giving a medication of dehydration and when we got discharged uptill that time the reports were not available(and they asked us to collect it after 5 days:)
all in all Jaypee hospital is a big no from my side
