We travelled from San Francisco to Mumbai on Dec. 1st.05 by Korean Air. On International Airport of Mumbai I went to Jet counter to chekin my baggage and being 70 years old was asked by countergirl Ms. Shakshi to load the bags on weight scale. I asked her why do you ask me to do this ?Why dont you ask your helper to do the duty. She backtrakked and said Well I am asking him to do. and then called the helper who was standing at some distance and waiting to be called. After check in the helper followed me in the corridor leading to Coach and asked me for the tip. Now I realised the collution between the counter staff and the helpers. My daughter in law who arrived by air france also had very bad experience. The helper while going in the corridor leading to coach caught hold of her carry on bag and asked for the tip. Coming to India only second time after her firat visit in 1988, She was frightened and horrified at the sudden misbehaviour of the helper in the poorly lighted and darkly painted corridor and opened her purse and parted with the 500Rs. note. My 8 years old grand son has first taste of Indian culture for which my daughter in law was eager to visit India , She insist that her son should learn about India by frequent visit every 2 to 3 years.
While boarding the early morning flight to Baroda, the ground crew standing at the stiacase asked me to chekin the only carry on bag of 20 which as per baggage rules I am entitled to carry on with me in the cabin. This was repeated while boarding late evening flight to bombay from baroda on 28th Dec. 05.The overhead selves were half empty in both cases.
