I recently travelled chennai to mumbai in jet airways flight no 9w488. The seat I got was 22d, just before the emergency exit, so it wouldnt have the option to recline back. Fair enough . But the agony was that the seat in front of mine 17d( yes there was no 18 19 20 or 21) was broken and reclined far too much behind. As a result I had just abt the width of the food trays gap between my seat and 17d. To further add to my woes the elderly gentleman sitting on 17d refused to make his seat upright even during landing.and the staff didnt help much . After repeatedly requesting them, I somehow got the cabin crew to make it upright but they too were unable to make it fully upright.
Have I in any way paid lesser than other ppl that I must land up with a seat that I cannot recline and at the same time be plagued with the woes of a broken seat ahead of me? And with a passenger who stubbornly reclined to the fullest all through the journey . Ultimately Jet Airways is responsible for not taking the pains to fix a broken seat that too the one just 2 seats away from the emergency exit.
And just because he was aggressive the crew chose to ignore the comforts of a passenger who didnt want to put up a fuss on board .As even then it would be of no use. I know and understand pretty well that cabin crew cant fix seats.hope the management fixes the seat and let people not silently suffer.
