Jet - mechanical and robotic

Jet airways is the oldest surviving private domestic airlines in India and they have put in that work to survive that long in a country which is not that conducive for airline industry. However, my experience with Jet is not that great compared to its rival Kingfisher. And here is why.

Cons:

a) Poor maintained aircrafts - they are old, ragged and cry out for care. Jet is NOT budget airlines like Deccan so it ought to have neat, clean and sparkling planes to offer for the price that one pays to travel in it. One of my major reason to turn off from Jet was the poor condition of its planes. Even if they are old, they can still be maintained in much better shape.

b) Robotic crew - both airport and on-board crew are so mechnical and robotic that I feel completely detached from them. There is no welcome friendly feeling compared to what one gets in kingfisher. Agreed that they serve their purpose but anytime something out of ordinary occurs in the plane and they are found panicking and wanting, unlike Kingfisher crew who remain friendly and courteous at all times.

c) Food - pales in comparison to what is offered by Kingfisher.

d) In flight entertainment - non-existent.

e) In-flight restrooms/toilets - worthy of being a budget airlines. They stink.

Pros:

a) Punctuality - beats Kingfisher hands-down in this department. Rarely are they late.

b) Website - very easy to navigate and get the info one wants. No domestic competition.

Given that Jet is a full-fledged airlines and now also operate on international circuit, it is high time that they improve upon their services and give a tough fight to Kingfisher. The amount that they charge is slightly less than Kingfisher but the degradation of services I mentioned above is so huge that it has put me off from it. For these very reasons, Jet is now my secondary backup preference and not the no. 1 choice.
