Jetlite-A decent option

I had recently gone on Jetlite on the Chennai-Delhi-Chennai route with a small child due to the timings and the cost factor. It was the lowest costing about 13k for the return journey for 2. Post reading the informative reviews here, I was quite apprehensive about the entire trip.

However, it was overall a decent experience. One has to keep in mind that Jetlite is low-cost carrier. I went with minimal expectations and hence was not very disappointed. In the Chennai airport on the onward journey, there was a system failure which could have been handled better. Instead, for the flight at 6:35 AM, we were still waiting for the baggage to be checked in with the security check still pending.

Also, no preference for the seating was asked for and my son (4-1/2 yrs) was given a middle seat on one row and me on the opposite end in spite of the fact that his age. Then  I had to request another gentleman to trade seats. In contrast, on the return journey in Delhi, the staff at the baggage counter were very friendly and though did not ask for preference did give adjoining seats suggesting a window seat for my son so that he would be able to look out. The aircrafts did look ok, but the seating is just tooooo cramped.

There is very very little leg space and since the journey was over 2 hours it was definitely uncomfortable. The cabin crew were courteous and warm, but were not friendly like on Jet Airways on which I have flown many times. They serve a snack on board -meal-in-a-box which well...leaves a lot to be desired...On the onward flight, we got a aloo burger (i am assuming that as there were a lot of aloos), a decent muffin, water and packaged juice. However, the entire meal was quite cold and just a little warming prior to serving will go a long way in customer satisfaction. The meal box on the return trip had a vegetable burger with some paneer (i think), a muffin(awful) and a bottle of water..The juice was missing here. There were no delays in the flights although it was raining in Delhi during the return trip. The staff are overall courteous, and were quite helpful in helping the passengers to board when the checkin was delayed due to systems failure. It was a decent experience given the cost factor. However, it would be better if they could offer at least a warm meal or at least let us pay for what we want!
